Fields of Application

Autonomous transport and logistics systems

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) have been established in the world of logistics for many years. In both crop cultivation and animal husbandry, more and more areas of application are opening up in which AGVs make everyday life easier and counteract the labor shortage. 


Field cultivation is largely carried out by agricultural vehicles. Supporting activities or sub-processes, such as sowing, hoeing or even fertilizing, are already carried out with the aid of self-driving units. Under the prevailing conditions, maneuverability is essential. The NP gearboxes of the WITTENSTEIN alpha Value Line impress with their precise movements. We can thus ensure perfect coordination of multiple steering axes and the controllability of the entire vehicle. 

In addition, automated guided vehicles perform a wide range of tasks in greenhouses, on plantations as well as in animal stables. Planting

The automation of cultivation processes in greenhouses and on plantations as well as downstream processes is continuously advancing. Autonomous harvesting aids and machines for the efficient cultivation and processing of products are already part of everyday life in modern agriculture. 
 

For decades, WITTENSTEIN has been supporting a wide range of industries in the transformation to automated production processes. The exact placement of seeds or seedlings plays a crucial role in enabling automated procedures. The TP+ and SP+ planetary gearboxes of the WITTENSTEIN alpha Advanced Line are ideal for highly dynamic yet accurate movements, such as those required when sewing or repotting young plants and when handling flower pots. Furthermore, effective use of the limited installation space is crucial to success, especially in the case of autonomous harvesting robots. The servo actuators TPM+ and premo® as well as the brushless servo-motors of the cyber® dynamic line enable precise feed movements and combine maximum performance with a compact design. The Galaxie® D actuators are particularly suitable for applications such as multi-axis kinematics thanks to their uniquely large hollow shaft and perfect blend of precision and compactness.

Milking

Appropriate animal husbandry is undoubtedly an important factor in the creation of animal products. Particular care is required, especially when milking cows, in order not to jeopardize both animal welfare and the success of the process.

 

All WITTENSTEIN products impress with their particularly quiet and smooth operation. This protects both humans and animals from unnecessary noise emissions. Our portfolio offers a whole host of variants for every application. We can implement everything from corrosion-protected drives to stainless steel versions, which can easily withstand various different liquids and cleaning processes.

In the case of milk production, precise targeting of the udder is also important in order to avoid injuries to the animal. Depending on the individual application, either our coaxial gearboxes CP and NP of the alpha Basic Line and alpha Value Line or the right-angle versions CPK and NPK are suitable for this purpose. They are characterized by their compactness and outstanding price-performance ratio.

Egg processing

The range of animal products that are produced in traditional agriculture is vast. Chicken eggs are extremely fragile products and must therefore be handled with great care. 
 

During preparatory activities, such as fertilization, handling eggs is particularly precarious. Inaccuracies during handling and positioning of dynamic axes can render entire batches unusable. This makes the selection of each individual component of the drivetrain all the more important. WITTENSTEIN gearboxes of the alpha Basic Line and alpha Value Line combine precision and high concentricity with the all-important economic factor. They thus represent a high-quality, economic solution in the field of egg processing. With the cyber® dynamic line, we also offer a brushless servo motor that enables accurate feed movements with maximum reliability in the smallest of spaces.
