WITTENSTEIN at SPS/IPC/DRIVES 2011

Product première for WITTENSTEIN cyber motor:

New swing servo motor

WITTENSTEIN AG – Hall 4, Stand 4-221

WITTENSTEIN AG, a traditional exhibitor at SPS/IPC/Drives, will be returning to Nuremberg to participate in this year’s fair from November 22 to 24. South-West Germany’s specialist for intelligent servo actuator technology will be represented at the forthcoming event by four Business Units in Hall 4, Stand 4-221:

  • WITTENSTEIN motion control
  • GmbH WITTENSTEIN electronics GmbH
  • WITTENSTEIN cyber motor GmbH
  • WITTENSTEIN alpha GmbH

An innovative mounting concept – a new swing servo or "wing motor" – will form the focus of the WITTENSTEIN Group's joint stand. As a competent development partner for highly dynamic servo actuators, WITTENSTEIN cyber motor will show an exciting customer project at SPS/IPC/Drives 2011.

The engineers in the WCM development team were confronted with a daunting challenge upfront: to replace a tooth chain drive with a fully integrated direct drive for rollers.

What makes this application unique is the fact that the stator cannot be mounted or dismantled axially at the roller. The strategy adopted by WITTENSTEIN cyber motor involves a split stator which is attached to fixing lugs, allowing the stator sections to be joined together in a controlled way. When the motor is swung in, it resembles a one-piece direct drive as far as the electrics are concerned, with all the typical benefits of WITTENSTEIN's WCM subsidiary such as a high torque density, very high efficiency and amazingly compact dimensions.

With its stainless steel water cooling system, this motor is also suitable for use in unfavourable environments or at high rotor temperatures up to 200°C. It makes an attractive alternative whenever full integration into an existing system needs to be combined with an innovative and compact motor mounting concept.
