Quality Manager

Responsibilities
Responsible for leading all quality functions at WITTENSTEIN North America. This involves Quality Management System, Advance Quality Planning, Supplier Quality Management, Claim Management and Quality Assurance (as technical leadership). The role also entails responsibility for Governance, Risk, and Compliance (GRC) management for WITTENSTEIN North America and serves as Compliance Officer as well as responsibility for Occupational Health and Safety. With that, the role is maintaining, ensuring and improving the quality standards throughout the entire organization and supply chain as well as sustaining relevant certifications (e.g. ISO9001).
- Ensure meeting and exceeding highest quality standards in products and processes throughout the entire organization and supply chain.
- Lead Risk Management and Strategic Quality Planning aligned with business objectives.
- Lead and develop all relevant roles and personnel. For Quality Assurance, technically lead personnel in close cooperation with the Plant Manager (disciplinary leader for Quality Assurance).
- Relevant key aspects of overseen Quality Roles:
- Quality Management: Sustain, manage, and continuously improve the WITTENSTEIN North America ISO9001 QMS (including focus on aerospace and defense), ensuring alignment with corporate standards. Represent WITTENSTEIN North America with corporate counterparts, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders as the accountable QMS leader.
- Claim Management: Oversee Customer Claim and Complaint Management, ensuring timely resolution, root cause analysis, and preventative actions. Manage the Corrective Action Improvement Register (CAIR) process, providing a structured framework for cross-functional resolution of product quality, process improvement, safety, compliance, supplier, and intercompany issues.
- Supplier Quality Management: supplier corrective action process, supplier selection, audits, corrective actions, and ongoing performance monitoring.
- Advance Quality Planning: Check and Ensure all quality relevant aspects in the product development process. Responsible for quality assurance planning. Create and maintain quality relevant master data. Coordinate process, machine and measurement system capability studies. Create PPAP and QM Plans. Support in optimizing production processes in terms of quality aspects. Apply Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data-driven methods to monitor, analyze, and improve product and process quality. Integrate findings into strategic quality planning.
- Auditor: Plan, Execute, Document and Follow Up on Findings of internal and external audits.
- Quality Assurance: Provide technical leadership guidance to Quality Assurance department for incoming and in-process inspections, first article inspection processes, root cause analysis, product accept/reject decisions, test equipment management and development of test plans to verify processes.
- Lead and evolve the organization's Export Compliance Program (ECP), Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (CTPAT) and support Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC), and related compliance frameworks.
- Serve as Compliance Officer, responsible for systems that capture, report, and address statutory, regulatory, and ethical compliance matters in alignment with corporate guidelines.
- Oversee Occupational Health, and Safety programs and intitiaves to ensure effectiveness and regulatory compliance. Be liaison to headquarters in Germany for Environmental and Sustainability reporting ensure local conformity to and standards and regulations.
- Responsible for conducting PDP Product Adaption Instructor Led Training for certain roles (i.e. project managers, engineers, etc).
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by his or her Manager.
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Business, Management, Engineering or a related field. Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Professional certifications in relevant disciplines preferred:
- ASQ – CQM/OE, CQE, CQA, CSSBB
- PMP – CPA, ACP, PgMP
- OCEG – GRCP, GRCA
- Six Sigma Black Belt
- Recent, direct experience in the role of Management Representative in a structured QMS environment (ISO9001, AS9100, IATF16949, or similar)
- Proven experience in Risk Management, Supplier Quality, and Claim Management.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute Quality Strategy & Planning initiatives that align with corporate goals.
- Strong experience as a Project Manager, leading cross-functional teams using structured frameworks (waterfall and agile) to meet business objectives.
- Experience reviewing, writing, and interpreting contracts, Statements of Work, and legally binding agreements; ability to advise leadership on risk.
- Strong facilitation, analytical, and problem-solving skills to resolve complex quality, compliance, and process issues.
- Excellent communication skills, including presenting to executive leadership, customers, and suppliers.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook, CRM, SharePoint).
- SAP experience required.
- Experience in ERP systems for quality management, reporting, and process integration helpful.
- Experience with overseeing safety programs is preferred.
