Responsibilities

Salary Range: 70k - 85k 

Summary:  The HR Generalist's primary responsibilities are in Benefits and 401k Plan administration, updating HRIS systems, Recruiting and Temporary Staffing, Wellness Programs, HR Compliance and Reporting, Employee Relations, and various HR projects. 

Responsibilities:  
  • Perform US and Canadian benefits administration to include claims resolution, change reporting, processing & approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit information to employees. Coordinates open benefits enrollment meetings. Works with company’s insurance broker and supports another WITTENSTEIN company in US that are on WITTENSTEIN’s benefit’s plan.
  • Benefits - maintain and manage medical (PPO, HMO, and H.S.A.), dental, vision, STD, LTD, Worker’s Comp., FSA, COBRA, & Life Insurance.
  • Responsible for 401k administration including new hire enrollments, terminations, uploading of exempt and non-exempt 401k contributions every pay period, non-discrimination testing, preparing files for 401k audit, and profit sharing.
  • Oversees and manages the company’s various wellness programs including reward programs, coordinating annual biometric screens, reward, applications for Best & Brightest in Wellness Awards, reimbursement processing and more.
  • Completes Benefits Onboarding with all New Hires.
  • Responsible for annual ACA compliance.
  • Coordinates annual respirator, CPR, and forklift training, fire and tornado drills, and holiday shutdown closing responsibilities.
  • Administer various human resources plans and procedures for all company personnel; assist in development and implementation of personnel policies and procedures.
  • Completes various reports such as monthly staffing report, monthly Overtime report, OSHA Log, and other reports requested by HR Manager or Director.
  • Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and services performed.
  • Maintain HRIS records and compile reports from database. Processes new hires, terminations, or employee changes in applicable systems.
  • Assists in recruitment effort for permanent employees and temporary workers. Reviews and screens resumes, works with hiring Manager, coordinates interviews, background checks and assessments, and completes new hire processes.
  • Maintain other records, reports, and logs to conform to EEO regulations.
  • Handle employee relations counseling and exit interviewing.
  • Maintain compliance with federal and state regulations concerning employment.
  • Serves as phone backup to receptionist for breaks and vacation time.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 
  • Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of HR administration, effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Strong MS Office skills to include Word, Excel, Power Point & Outlook
  • Demonstrated ability to proactively present new HR ideas
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Must maintain confidential information
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to multi-task 

Education/Experience: 
  • A Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field is required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience is required, 5-7 years' experience or more is preferred.
  • Solid experience with administering employee benefit plans is preferred. Canadian benefits experience is not required.
  • Previous HR experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience in ADP and SAP preferred.
  • Experience in using some AI tools is preferred.
  • Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification is preferred.
